1929 Photogravure Angkor Cambodia Ta Phrom Devata Statue Sculpture Hinduism XGI2 This is an original 1903This is an original 1929 photogravure of a devata sculpture in the temple of Ta Phrom in Angkor, Cambodia (Kampuchea). "Devata" means "deity," and holds the same function as guardian angels in Christianity. Ta Phrom was built in the 12th century. Silk cotton trees grow out of the ruins and create a jungle like atmosphere. The temple was partially used during the filming of "Tomb Raider" in 2001. The photographer of this image is Dr. Martin Hrlimann of
